Music: One's to Watch for 2013

We like music at Kellan Socks and we’re sure you’re partial to a few chords and that’s why we’ve taken the time and liberty to provide you with some ones to watch for 2013.

2012 and the mainstream is not in a good way, but that’s not to say that some of the stuff on the edge or the radar isn’t fantastic. If like us you’re more into Sonic Youth than Justin Bieber here are a few worth listening to in the up and coming 12 months.

Electric Guest

LA based outfit Electric Guest hail from the sunny climes of LA and look set to see a stellar rise in the coming year. The band’s album, Mondo, has been produced by none other than Mr Danger Mouse – they’re an innovative sonic orientated group that provide plenty of weird noises, peculiar sounds and some great songs.

Kendrick Lamar

If you’re sick of bitches putting bling on their hoes on their pecs, then this maybe the hip hop saviour for you. With a hint of the old skool and plenty of creativity and innovation Lamar’s album Good Kid, m.A.A.d city is a brilliantly crafted album – take a look and you’ll most definitely be delighted.

Atoms for Peace

With a line-up of Thom Yorke, Flea, Mauro Refosco and all produced by Nigel Godrich, we should expect sonic waves. Supergroups seldom tend to live up to the billing of super, however, this band’s line-up and release of Amok in February excites us and should excite you to – not that we tell you when to be excited; it just looks like it’s going to be an amazing album.

Twenty One Pilots

If energy filled piano driven synth music is your thing then this could be a love of yours for the next 12 months. With their first record recently released and a string of amazing high energy performances behind them, Twenty One Pilots will release their album Vessel on the 8th of January – so the time is nigh to take a look.

Mount Moriah

North Carolina is their homeland and folk and rock is their sound. Having released a self-titled album last year and with an up and coming one for February you could do worse than give them an eager ear. The new album is set to have “bigger arrangements, louder guitars, bolder vocals, and more soulful rhythms” – so, needless to say our toes are wriggling in their shoes and colorful socks.

So, why not download an album, kick back in your luxury socks and listen to the beats.
